Meant for those who appreciate a glimpse of what life must have been like in the 17th and 18th centuries in feudal Japan amongst the aristocracy, the nobles of that time and place. For this print design is very successful at evoking the daily rituals performed within the flexible open spaces of these....pre-Frank Lloyd Wright houses. A handsome Pine Bonsai sits at the edge of an exterior terrace presided over by a seated nobleman. The awkwardly constructed perspective technique displayed in this picture is evidenced by the MC Escher-ish treatment of the interior column and lattice screen transom. Study carefully and you will observe that this is a geometric and architectural impossibility.
