Though the Pine Bonsai shown on the lower left side of this print design has a somewhat accidental position within the setting of this 2 story private residence, it is of some interest that it seems to have been a natural design element in the landscaping and interior design of these more significant houses. It is noteworthy that in the nineteenth century, few if any of the Bonsai environments exhibited, show the Bonsai actually placed on specially designed platforms or benches as is the custom today. A curious feature of this image is the height of the male figure assuming that the first story is a typical height and note also the relationship of the feet and head to the structure of the building.
